Purpose of my project

The purpose of my project is to explore how plants can positively affect both mental and physical health. By working with plants and reflecting on my experiences, I aim to demonstrate the positive impacts they can have and inspire others to incorporate plants into their routines for improved well-being.

The Successes

I successfully grew a variety of plants using my Les Vert Living System, which was one of the biggest highlights of my passion project. Seeing the plants grow and stay healthy indoors showed me I could properly care for them and create a good environment. Over time, I learned a lot about what plants need to thrive, like the right amount of water, light, and attention. Overall, it was a really positive experience, and I’m proud of how well my plants grew and how much I improved my skills throughout the project.

The Challenges

Challenge #1:

One major challenge was going away to Australia and not being able to take care of or see my plants every day. Since I’m used to being around them regularly, it was difficult not to be able to take care of them. Unfortunately, while I was gone, two of my plants died, which showed me how much consistent care they need. But I overcame this challenge by remembering to ask someone to come and take care of my plants if I know I will be out of the house.

Challenge #2:

Another challenge was that this project took place during the winter, which limited my ability to do outdoor planting. Because of the colder weather, I focus on indoor plants and research instead of gardening outside. I overcame this by working with indoor plants, observing their growth, and using research to continue learning even when I couldn’t garden outside.

The Outcome

The outcome of my passion project was very meaningful and rewarding. I successfully grew plants indoors and learned a lot about how they can positively impact both mental and physical health. I was also able to bring this project into my school community, which made it feel even more impactful, and I plan to continue expanding it into other communities as well. I’m really proud of how my project turned out and how much it grew over time.
